The Race for Democracy to Benefit the Furtherance of Democracy is a 10K, 5K and a Kids Fun Run on Monday, Sept. 6, 2010 At William Land Park, Village Green Area in Sacramento, CA. Special Guest Candidate for Governor Jerry Brown & Live Music by "The Spirit of Latin Rock" with band members from Santana, WAR, Tower of Power for your entertainment.

 

"The Spirit of Latin Rock" will headline this event on the "DENTALSource Stage"
This Latin super-group, featuring a host of industry veterans, has literally shaped the sound of what has become known in America as “Latin Rock”.  The roster of this band has consisted of players from Santana, WAR, Malo, Tower Of Power, Abel and the Prophets, Journey and Sly and The Family Stone and others, this group sizzles with a screaming horn section, blistering guitars and famous percussionists who bring the fire and passion that originated in the Mission District of San Francisco in the 60’s and 70’s.  Featured are well-known classics including “Suavecito”, Herbie Hancock’s “Watermelon Man” and “A Song For Cesar” which is highlighted by a rousing guitar performance from Carlos’ younger brother, Jorge Santana.

The RACE FOR DEMOCRACY is a picnic fundraising event, sponsored by the Sacramento Central labor Council AFL-CIO and the Citizens-Independent-Democratic FUND (CID FUND) to raise money for effective field operations to increase voter participation and elect Democratic candidates.  Be among the first 3,000 patriots and labor supporters in a scenic run/walk through beautiful William Land Park, and stay for the Sacramento Central Labor Council Annual Labor Day Picnic.
